Pearls are slightly different from regular beads. It is plastic with a mother-of-pearl layer around it. The hole is often wider on one side than the other. This is not a problem with metal wire or metal pins because you will then pierce the hole properly. It is also no problem with thin thread or thin steel wire because the threading hole is large enough for this. However, threading will be quite difficult with elastic or wax cord due to the thickness and flexibiliteit (a time-consuming solution is to first pierce the beads with a piece of metal before using elastic or wax cord). We therefore recommend using the pearls only with thin wire or hard metal wire.
